Red Ring?

I haven't been spending much time with my Xbox 360 over the past week or so. I'm flipping between video games and poker on bi-weekly basis, it seems. In any case, it looks like my Xbox 360 may have taken offense with my new "que sera sera" attitude and is threatening me with a possible Red Ring O' Death scenario.

When I have a chance this evening, I'm going to unplug all of my Xbox 360's cables, plugs, and hard drive. I'll grab some compressed air in a can and clear out all vents and plugs. I'll then fire up the Xbox 360 to make sure it works before plugging everything back in.

In all honesty, even if my 360 red rings itself, I can't complain. I've had my 360 since 2006 and haven't had any issues with it. I think the 360 is a great console and I'm looking forward to spending a many more years with it. And if it does crap out, no worries: I've got poker and the ever-looming possibility of a PS3 impulse purchase to keep me busy!

By the way, I'm almost finished Half-Life 2: Episode 1. From there, it'll be on to Episode 2. After that, who knows? Although I'd considered playing Too Human, the demo did not impress me and reviewers seem pretty divided on the game itself.

Have a great day everyone!

I Beat Half-Life 2

I've been playing a little more poker over the past few days. I've got two kids who'll need to go to university one day and I think poker's the only way I'll be able to afford their tuition. Regardless, I did still manage to play quite a bit of Half-Life 2 over the weekend. In a nutshell, I'd have to say that Half-Life 2 really, really lived up to the hype!

From start to finish, Half-Life 2 was intense. Every single moment of the game keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you're not being attacked, you know that disaster awaits just around the next bend.

I'm not too sure if I understand HL2's story all that well but it doesn't really matter that much to me. Aliens or something took over the Earth, Gordon Freeman leads the troops in a fight to reclaim the planet, and stuff happens. I won't give away the ending, not that you'd really understand it had you not played the game.

I'm currently halfway through HL2: Episode 1. Like it's predecessor, Episode 1 is scary and intense as a bastard. Antlions, zombies, dark underground parking lots, and a whole lot of jump-scares.

I'm going to try and finish Episode 1 this week but it all depends on how well things work out at the poker tables. When I'm playing winning poker, I play poker. But if I start losing, it's good to know that video games are there to love and not judge.

Funny Madden 09 Commercial

I've never played Madden on any game console. I don't really get football. I get hockey; football, not so much.

But that doesn't mean that I don't know funny when I see it. And this Wal-Mart ad for Madden 09 is funny!

That ad reminds me of one of the funnier scenes from The 40 Year-Old Virgin:

Funny stuff...
